Svartman

General information

The residential area Svartman is located in S:t Lars block, just by V-Dala nation. The house was built in 1964 and was renovated in 2002. At Svartman you can find 40 corridor rooms, 5 one-room apartments, 10 two-room apartments and 3 three-room apartments.

The rooms at Svartman are grouped into 7- and 6-room corridors. Each room has its own bathroom and shower. The size of the rooms is 19 m2 and they face either Skolgatan or the back yard.

Electricity is included in the rent for the rooms, but not for the apartments. All corridor-room tenants have two rent-free months(July and August), while residents in the apartments pay 12 months’ rent.

The laundry room is situated in the basement. Mailboxes can be found in the entrance of the building. You also have access to your own storage room.

Location

Svartman is located between Svartmangatan, S:t Larsgatan and Skolgatan. V-Dala nation is just across the street and at just a few minutes distance, at Sysslomansgatan, you can find a well-assorted ICA Supermarket. If you have a bicycle you can reach the central parts of Uppsala in just an instance, and all student nations can be found within walking distance.

Triangeln /The Triangle

General information

Triangeln is the name of the residential area located between S:t Johannesgatan and Karlsrogatan. This area was the first student residential block built by Västmanlands-Dala nation, and it was built in response to the increased number of students during the 1950’s. In the beginning of the 21st century, a new building with corridor rooms was added to Triangeln, commonly known as “Nya Triangeln”, the New Triangle.

The rooms

There are 140 corridor rooms and 72 triplet rooms at Triangeln. The rooms are grouped into 8-,5- and 4-room corridors. All rooms in corridors have their own bathroom with toilet and shower. As the name suggests, a triplet room is a part of a shared apartment with three separate rooms and shared bathroom and shower. Each room has its own key. The size of the rooms at Triangeln ranges from 22 m2 at Nya Triangeln to 13 m2 for the triplet rooms.

The apartments

There are 63 apartments at Triangeln: 10 three-room apartments, 45 two-room apartments and 8 one-room apartments. In each entrance at S:t Johannesgatan A-E there are 2 three-room apartments and 9 two-room apartments. The building has four floors, with the three-room apartments always situated on the ground floor.

All applications for apartments must be made with a fellow applicant. Applicants with children are given priority to the three-room apartments. Electricity is not included in the rent for the apartments.

Location

Triangeln is located about one kilometre west of downtown Uppsala. With its place between the cementary and the big student areas Rackarberget and Studentvägen you live in a student hot-spot. From this area you are at 5 minutes' distance by bike from the shopping area, and at an even shorter distance you can find Uppsala Cathedral, the student nations and the old famous library Carolina Rediviva. Ekonomikum and SVC, where the departments of economics and languages can be found, are just around the corner from here. A small Ica Supermarket and a pizzeria are right across the street.

Kvarteret Observatoriet

General information

Kvarteret Observatoriet is the newest addition to our residential areas. The entire area will be finished in 2009, but the house belonging to V-Dala was finished already in December 2008. In response to the increased demand for apartments, Observatoriet contains 70 one-room apartments and 48 two-room apartments. The two-room apartments consist of two separate rooms with their own keys and a shared kitchen. That means that they are excellent housing both for friends and couples.
The size of the apartments varies from 27.5 m2 up to 53 m2. All the apartments have their own bathroom and kitchen and their own storage room located in the basement. You also have the possibility to use a sauna. The big laundry facility, with six washing-machines, is located in the basement.

Location

Kvarteret Observatoriet is centrally situated just near a park. From your front door there are only a few meters walk to Ekonomikum where you find the Department of economics. Down-town Uppsala is at 5-10 minutes' walking distance from the area, and the well-assorted ICA Supermarket is just a few minutes away.
